"Grounded in sensitivity and compassion, this modality not only acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind and body but also provides a nurturing environment for individuals to navigate and transform their inner landscapes, promoting healing and restoration.
Trauma-informed massage therapy is a specialized approach that recognizes the physical and emotional effects of trauma on the body. It integrates the principles of trauma-informed care with massage techniques to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced trauma." -www.guidetopersonalsolutions.com/post/trauma-informed-massage-therapy
Trauma-Informed
Massage Therapy
How does it differ from traditional therapy sessions?
-
Establishing a sense of safety and comfort. You are encouraged to communicate with me of any boundaries or adjustments that need to be made during your massage session.
-
Choice and Consent. You are encouraged to voice your preferences to customize the massage to your needs and wants. Level of pressure, areas of focus that you want more time spent on, and areas you want avoided.
-
Freely able to use your massage session as a time for breathwork/meditation.
-
You are in control if you want your massage session filled with conversation or if you want peace through silence. I follow your wants by reading the room. I won't start conversation unless you initiate it. Or simply let me know you prefer a conversation free session.
-
Incorporating nature into the massage room. Since I enjoy being in nature, I naturally add nature elements into my room to create a healing and calming environment.
Trauma-informed massage therapy can offer many benefits to mental health.
-
Emotional Release
-
Reduced Anxiety and Depression
-
Enhanced Body Awareness
-
Relaxation and Stress Reduction
I integrate and value trauma informed therapy into my massage sessions. So, what exactly is a trauma informed therapist?
